Superimpose, compress, annihilate, yield!
LE DICTATOUR
- We are not ready, Le Dictateur, Milan, 2010
composite image, 2.3 × 3 cm, framed 29.7 × 42 cm, photographic image, glass on glass
Le Dictatour presents a single image reduced to the scale of a postage stamp. The tiny photograph is framed in a black frame with glass on both sides, resembling a laboratory slide prepared for microscopic observation.
Within this miniature image all the works produced by the artist up to that moment are superimposed. Installations, objects and spatial interventions collapse into a single visual field, compressed into an almost unreadable density.
The work transforms an entire artistic trajectory into a fragile specimen. What would normally occupy rooms, bodies and architectural spaces is condensed into a microscopic surface that demands a different form of attention.
The viewer is invited to confront the paradox of scale: an entire body of work contained within an image so small it nearly escapes perception. The practice becomes specimen. The trajectory becomes residue.
