Ray of Light is the second episode of the trilogy Vis Major: Bad Romance.

The gallery space was transformed into a sealed environment: walls and floors were entirely covered with a thick layer of nylon, creating a temporary protective surface that could be contaminated and later removed without leaving traces.

Inside the smaller room stood a large black wax cube recalling the form of the Kaaba. Embedded inside the cube was an electric oven, switched on before the sculpture was sealed in wax and left running at 275°C with its internal light on.

At the official opening time two police patrols arrived with sirens and sealed the entrance of the gallery with police tape. The audience was kept outside while officers and a forensic team conducted a simulated investigation of a supposed crime scene.

During the intervention a judicial hearse arrived to recover the body of a deceased person that in fact did not exist.

Meanwhile the heat from the oven slowly began to melt the wax cube. Smoke and the smell of melted wax filled the space until a fragment of the sculpture collapsed, allowing the oven's internal light to emerge through the opening.

Only after the investigation was concluded and the police cleared the scene was the audience finally allowed to enter the gallery.
