from the series Bukkake! (2011–2016), installation – tableau vivantsound: Lascia ch'io pianga (G. F. Händel), twelve versions in continuous loop
Lascia ch'io pianga... mia cruda sorte, e che sospiri... la libertà.
An aria by Handel spreads through the space as the viewer approaches the installation. The symbols of celebration are displayed, each with its own bodyguard.
The work belongs to the series Bukkake!, which examines one of the most common celebratory objects in Western culture: the cake. Birthdays, weddings and anniversaries are all marked by the same symbol, a sweet structure meant to celebrate the passing of time. But what happens if time is removed from the cake? If the object designed to mark a moment becomes permanent? In Bukkake! this logic is reversed: the cake is extracted from time and transformed into a self-referential monument that celebrates only itself.
The phonetic proximity between Bukkake and BU!Cake is not incidental. The sculptures are excessive, simultaneously festive and grotesque, objects that no longer celebrate an occasion but guard their own existence, as if the ritual had forgotten its reason and continued regardless.
