Oh ho ho, oh boy! Repeat!

BUKKAKE (God help me! I love the camera.)

The title is a direct quotation from an interview with Georgina Spelvin, iconic figure of American pornographic cinema and star of The Devil in Miss Jones (1973), filmed for the music video of Massive Attack's Paradise Circus. In the interview, Spelvin confessed that she was unable to experience sexual arousal in real life, only in front of the camera. Desire, for her, existed exclusively as performance.

The series consists of a number of sculptures determined by the number of quotable statements extracted from that interview. Each cake corresponds to a citation. When the interview is exhausted, the series ends.

The cakes rise from the floor as ceremonial structures - monuments to celebration emptied of their original function. Covered with delicious yet inedible frosting, they are not subject to time, to bacteria, to consumption. They can only be looked at.

Like Spelvin's desire, they exist only as spectacle. The celebration continues - excessive, ornamental, sterile - without the possibility of renewal.
