PILOT!

Pilot is a 45 minute journey, the duration of a television episode, more precisely a pilot episode. Ten black cars depart simultaneously each evening for three consecutive nights. Each vehicle carries one participant seated alone in the back seat. During the journey there is no possibility of communication with the driver and no access to a phone, which is taken away for the entire duration of the ride.

In every car the same audio narrative plays at high volume, guiding the experience. The route begins in the city center and gradually moves toward the outskirts, passing through a village and eventually entering the forest. The sound narrative is indirectly constructed from fragments of the artist's own biography, translated into a sequence of sounds and music rather than spoken narration.

Isolated inside the moving vehicle, each passenger constructs their own narrative through fragments of sound, landscape and memory. The journey becomes a temporary suspension from everyday communication, a space of enforced solitude in which external movement and inner reflection begin to overlap.

Pilot offers people what they believe they desire: attention. They leave the city like a head of state, in a black car with a private driver. Forty-five minutes later, after being left alone with themselves inside someone else’s story, they return emptied: frightened, sad, happy, or simply relieved.
