Make Your Own Kind of Music is a sound installation that transforms sound into a trace of the invisible, into evidence of an existence withheld from sight. Two colonies of mice inhabit the cavity of a gallery that presents itself as immaculate, intact: a perfect surface beneath which teems a chaotic, autonomous, free, and uncontrollable microcosm.

The visitor is immersed in a living acoustic environment, pulsing with footsteps, scratches, struggles: fragments of a life unfolding elsewhere, hidden, yet imposed through sound. Twenty microphones capture every movement, every tension, every signal of that secluded existence, transforming it into a soundscape that becomes the true body of the gallery, its subterranean reality. The work reflects on perception and control, on freedom and confinement. The mice, walled behind paper-thin partitions, are not prisoners: they could escape at any moment, yet they remain, inhabiting that structural void like a silent anomaly revealed only through sound.

The work is grounded in invisibility, in presences that inhabit cavities, behind smooth and flawless surfaces that are almost always constructed. Situations that cannot be seen, but can be sensed… that scratch. The work disappears and remains in the same instant, becoming an uncomfortable presence within the space that hosts it, giving form to inadequacy, pain and shame; the loneliest kind of lonely.
