Contain, accumulate, expand, explode, repeat!

THE SECURITY FROM THE OBJECT

plasterboard, varnish, sound, silk, papier-mâché600 × 50 × 300 cm (h × w × d), base 50 × 50 cm

A large column emerges from the wall and extends into the center of the room. Suspended between architecture and object, it releases a sensual voice that invites the viewer to touch its surface. When touched, however, the voice abruptly changes: the seductive sound becomes a disturbing noise, a clash, almost a lament.

The column is a fragment of architecture extracted from the wall. What normally functions as a container becomes an object placed in the center of attention. Its surface is completely white and polished, subtly reflecting the surrounding space.

The work reflects the human tendency to seek stability in the things we accumulate around us. Objects, meanings and contents become sources of security, while the structures that contain them (the spaces, the walls, the bodies that make them possible) disappear from perception.

By isolating a piece of architecture and making it reflective, the installation forces the container to appear again. The surface returns the surrounding space to the viewer, revealing everything that it silently holds and surrounds.

The seductive voice that invites touch suggests the promise of content. Yet the moment of contact produces discomfort, exposing a fragile mechanism: what we perceive as content only functions through its container.
