flat SINKING teen is a photographic series derived from the performance presented at Museo del Novecento in Milan. Removed from the original action, the images detach themselves from the event and begin to function as autonomous works. Printed in black and white and flattened in the format, the photographs appear washed of colour and narrative intensity. The absence of colour dissolves the immediacy of the gesture, suspending the scene in a state that is neither documentation nor memory. The title alludes to this condition of flattening and sinking: the images seem to lose weight, drifting away from the original act of expiation that generated them. Without a clear subject and stripped of temporal urgency, the scenes resemble ritual fragments emptied of their cause.
Like prayers recited after confession, Ave Maria and Pater Noster repeated as prescribed gestures, the photographs appear as quiet repetitions of an action whose meaning has already been absorbed, leaving only its residue.
